. History of Oak Meadow

1977 – Founded by Michelle DuBois, first class of thirteen Children’s House students in basement of Boxborough church

1980 – Added Lower Elementary program

1988 – Increased enrollment required move to larger space in building on Taylor Street, Littleton, where Upper Elementary was added

1991 – Moved to present location on Old Pickard Lane, Littleton, renting a portion of building that had been egg production facility for Cobb’s Chickens

1995 – Rented entire Old Pickard Lane building and added Middle School program

1999 – Purchased Old Pickard Lane property

2000 – Phase I of renovation and redesign of building

2001 – Phase II of facilities plan adds two Children’s House classrooms and other interior improvements

2002 – Addition of new Middle School wing

2006 – Adopted Strategic Plan that calls for addition of multi-purpose room/gym and renovations for art, music, and drama studios

2007 – Celebrated thirtieth anniversary of founding of Oak Meadow and one hundredth anniversary of the founding of the first Montessori school

2008 – Awarded AISNE & AMS Accreditations

2009 – Completed construction of The Rizzi Center for Athletics and Performing Arts and renovations of existing facility to include new Fine Arts Studio, community gathering spaces and administrative offices

I am pleased to introduce you to Oak Meadow Montessori School, an independent school serving students age 3 through grade 8. Oak Meadow offers a dynamic educational program that emphasizes the development of academic excellence, personal growth, and cultural awareness in our students. I hope this website gives you a sense of the school’s vitality, and intrigues you to ask more questions. We’d be happy to answer them for you.

Through our Montessori program, students experience a spiraling curriculum that connects discoveries made in Children’s House to coursework that culminates in Middle School. We find that Oak Meadow students develop an ownership of their learning because they are encouraged to seek out the wonder of the world around them, and because they construct knowledge along the way. Defined by strong relationships between students and teachers, an Oak Meadow education both challenges and supports each child. Not only does Oak Meadow prepare our students to excel in secondary school and beyond, but we also prepare them for life.
