The Empty Bowls community service project is being launched during OaktoberFest, on Sunday, October 19.
* Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread - In exchange for a cash donation, guests can keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to a local organization working to end hunger and food insecurity. For more information, please visit the Empty Bowls website.
Sign up for an opportunity to craft a small bowl in the OMS Art Studio. Mrs. Karp will host 45-minute sessions beginning at 1:00 p.m. This FREE activity has a 10-person limit per session, so reserve your seat as soon as possible! The finished bowls will be used to serve a simple meal at the March 20, 2015 OMS Family Fun Night.
- During the fall and winter months, Mrs. Karp will offer students the option of decorating a bowl during their art class time.
- Parents are invited to participate in this school-wide project during Mrs. Karp’s Open Art Studio time on Tuesday mornings.
