  • Students Return from MMUN in New York City

    Posted April 8, 2014

Many congratulations to Oak Meadow's 2014 Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) team that spent last weekend representing Oak Meadow as UN delegates in New York City.

Being a member of the MMUN team is an extensive academic commitment. Assigned to represent the country of South Sudan, 6 Middle School students began preparing for the MMUN Conference in January. Under the guidance of Middle School teacher Barbara Orlowitz, the students met every Thursday and Saturday to research and work collaboratively on resolutions for global issues. The team even had an opportunity to interview an international resource via Skype, Makarand Sahasrabuddhe, who works with Oxfam and spent time in South Sudan. Each member of the team ultimately wrote a position paper focused on a specific topic to be presented in New York City.

  • MS Students Delight with James and the Giant Peach

    Posted March 20, 2014

This week, Middle School students delighted us with a performance of James and the Giant Peach. Giving students an opportunity to experience the arts at this level is indeed an enriching experience, and our community reaped the benefits with this wonderful production of one of Roald Dahl's most popular books. Many thanks to the student performers who dedicated much time and talent in bringing this production to the stage, and sincere thanks to drama teacher Wendy Stuart and the many parents who supported and contributed. If you were unable to attend last night's performance, please join us this evening at 7 p.m. in The Rizzi Center for this all-ages show. It will not disappoint!

  • Science Fair Invite

    Posted February 26, 2014

One of Oak Meadow's biggest events is just around the corner, and you're invited! Over the past few months, third through eighth grade students have been working hard to prepare for the OMS Science Fair. Proven to be one of the biggest academic events of the year, Oak Meadow's Science Fair is a showcase of student experiments and a culmination of the knowledge each student has gained. Students thoughtfully consider a project of interest, and embark on a journey to test their theories using the scientific method. This event is not to be missed! All are welcome and invited to check out this year's experiments next Thursday, March 6, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in The Rizzi Center. See you there!
