Welcome to the Oak Meadow Montessori School Parents’ Association (OMPA)

What is OMPA?
The Oak Meadow Parents' Association (OMPA) is the official body of parent representation and involvement for Oak Meadow Montessori School. It is made up of all parents and caregivers of OMMS students.

The mission of the Parents’ Association is to enhance the sense of community at the school. Activities of the Parents’ Association include:

• Family events, such as OaktoberFest in the fall, a Cultural Heritage Festival in winter, a family Game Night sponsored by GameWright, and the End-Of-Year Carnival
• Annual Book Fair, which generates funds to enhance our school library
• Staff luncheons and other staff appreciation events
• Sponsoring and producing parent education events
• Special Activities for the Dads of Oak Meadow (the DOOM squad!
  

What are the goals of OMPA?
Independent schools traditionally seek partnership with parents, and the role of the Parents' Association is to work with the administration to build that partnership. The main objectives of OMPA are:

• Promoting the spirit of friendship throughout Oak Meadow, which makes our community strong.
• Strengthening community spirit through events and activities. This includes parents' educational evenings, Golden Bean events, community events, and festivals.
• Promoting awareness of Oak Meadow Montessori School.
• Providing practical assistance within a wide range of school activies. This includes but is not limited to: library support; room parent assistance; metoring program support; staff appreciation; community service events; and other school-wide events.

OMPA Meetings
An easy way to stay informed and get involved is by attending regularly scheduled OMPA meetings. These meetings are open to all interested parents, whether you are on the board or not, and are generally held once a month. We welcome fresh ideas and active participants, so please join us! See below for a list of all meetings and upcoming OMPA events.

Getting Involved at Oak Meadow
All parents and caregivers are members of the Parents' Associaton just by having an enrolled student at Oak Meadow Montessori School. The Oak Meadow experience is enhanced for everyone when parents and caregivers join in supporting the school by volunteering their time, effort, and experience.

Many levels of involvement are available. Whether you can assist an hour a week in the library, help once a month, or are just that extra pair of hands helping to clean up after another successful festival, your help is needed and appreciated! Start small and participate in a meeting, or jump in with both feet and help with an event. There is something for everyone!

What Help is Needed?
OMPA is organized into committees. Sign up to be part of a committee! All volunteers are welcome.

Community Service Committee This committee will be involved in organizing service-oriented events for the Oak Meadow community. If you have ideas and/or would like to participate, please click here to email the Community Service Committee chair.

Library Committee The goal of this committee is to maintain an organized and efficient library for the school, as well as to oversee the volunteer schedule of all parent librarians who assist with the library classes. Click here to email the Library Committee chair!
