which fosters academic excellence, personal growth and cultural awareness while nurturing children’s spirits. A diverse community of
life-long learners, we cultivate confident, independent and compassionate human beings
by providing the tools and experiences needed
to embark on rich, meaningful journeys as responsible citizens of the world.
Philosophy
Our educational philosophy is based upon the teachings of Maria Montessori. Therefore:
We are child-centered.
Montessori education follows the child. Our child-centered philosophy means that the child’s academic, emotional, social and behavioral state and needs drive the curriculum, the lessons and the activities.
We foster academic excellence.
Academic excellence is the fulfillment of the Montessori ideal that “It is true that we cannot make a genius, we can only give to each child the chance to fulfill his potential possibilities.” Demonstrated academic excellence is the proof that students have been given the chance to fulfill their potential.
We foster personal growth.
Maria Montessori said, “It is the child who makes the man, and no man exists who was not made by the child he once was.” We actively help the child grow in all dimensions – academic, social, emotional and behavioral.
We promote cultural awareness.
Cultural awareness is a key component of Maria Montessori’s vision of cosmic education and the improvement of humankind. Students learn to think beyond cultural boundaries and consider what they will do as adults to create a better and more peaceful future.
We nurture children’s spirits.
A child’s spirit needs to be nurtured in order to achieve their full human potential. Our school is an environment in which students feel safe to develop their creative spirit, moral powers and active voice.
We are a community of life-long learners.
We believe that all members of our community are learners because education is an ongoing and dynamic experience. Our teachers, staff, parents and students are actively engaged in the learning process.
We cultivate confident, independent and compassionate human beings.
Confidence, independence and compassion are necessary attributes to attain the goal of a better and more peaceful future. Confident students are willing and able to voice their opinions. Independent students know they can, through their own efforts, change the world. Compassionate students care for the welfare of others.
We cultivate responsible citizens of the world.
We share Maria Montessori’s belief that “The child is both hope and promise for mankind.” Therefore we cultivate the spiritual development of our students, the enhancement of their value as individuals, and their preparation to understand the times in which they live.
