Kyle C. Earns Top Honors in Piano

On Sunday, November 17, Oak Meadow sixth grader Kyle C. won an Honorable Mention for his piano talent at the highly selective Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competition at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. Kyle was the youngest winner in the Junior Division comprised of performers aged 11 to 14. Earlier in May, Kyle won first place in his age group at the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association (MMTA) piano competition, and an Honorable Mention in the Junior Division of the Steinway Society Competition for New England. Kyle, an honor roll student in the piano department at Indian Hill Music School, has performed twice at the American Fine Arts Festival held at Carnegie Hall and will perform again there in March 2014. Next summer, he will attend a four-week music camp at the esteemed Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, N.Y., as he was recently awarded a prestigious Presidential Merit Scholarship after a successful two-week session at the camp in the summer of 2013.
